May 15, 2016 - Road Report
Boice Bradley
o Significant road improvements in the last 6-8 months.
o Recent road improvements in last 2 months
o Excellent condition from County Road 14 in to Miller’s/Preacher’s turn off
Miller’s Lake Portion
Many potholes were filled in by hand last fall, but lots of new ones near the beginning of the road
BR to review causes with BS+G
Just past Firestone’s, more wear and tear due partially to heavy rain and winter snow conditions
Grading required, and most likely, some more B gravel required
Two areas with culverts require more attention
The “first” culvert was repaired by hand in the fall. Needs a little more work
The second culver (closer to Artisan) damaged due to heavy rain may need ¼ load of B gravel
Generally, the road is good but will need a few loads of B gravel and some “crush” on the big hill
Compared to several years ago, road weathered the harsh conditions reasonably well, but may have been a little damaged by continued construction use in some areas
Preacher’s Point
Hill at Artisan needs grading but otherwise good. No additional crush required but grading may indicate otherwise
Top of (same) hill would benefit from a load of B gravel to allow for better drainage
Small area between first hill the next “big” hills will improve with grading
Big hills are on good shape and will clean up with light grading. No additional material anticipated
Top of “big” hill to landing at Chapman/Roberton entrance needs attention
Top of hill needs a load of B to help with drainage
Halfway down where new culvert was replaced a few years ago needs attention
Drainage from the left side (east?) down has continued drainage problems when the ground is still frozen
Forces water over the road instead of down the side
BR to review solutions with BS+G
There is construction anticipated at Jamie and Paula’s place this summer
Truck turnaround is usually at the top of Roberton driveway
BR to discuss Jamie and Paula who are aware of the possible challenges
Big tree hung up on the last hill was removed by Jamie MacPherson’s contractor
Thank you Jamie and Paula!
The rest of Preacher’s held up well considering the difficult winter conditions
Artisan Road
Not inspected
BR to inspect May 24th weekend
General
BR and Josh to inspect the conditions together for Preacher’s and Miller’s in the next several weeks
We may have a “Road Bee” this year since we have new active and enthusiastic members!
There are a few more trees that may require removal
There are a few areas where drainage could be improved
There are some pot holes that may require “manual” repair (as opposed to truck loads)
BS+G supplies “free” gravel for pot hole repair
BR to provide invoice for manual road repair last fall by others ($400)
Anonymous donation for $400 forthcoming
