June 13, 2024 - Intense Storm Hits the Point

An intense storm swept across our area about 7:30pm on Thursday evening. We could see the wall of rain coming across Redstone Lake. When it hit, it was very strong winds and rain. It lasted under 10min but caused dozens of trees to fall, knocking out power to a lot of Haliburton county.

Along Preachers Lane, there were over half a dozen spots where the road was blocked. Those spots were cut-through by road crew member, Jaimie, by early the next morning and Boyd did clean up (thank you both!). The power was to be restored within the day but unfortunately, power restoration is taking Hydro One longer than expected. Power is expected to be restored late afternoon on the Saturday.

As Gwen said ‘Not the worst we’ve had’ but the storm did do some damage. Keep safe and please call on neighbours if you ever need help after a storm.
