Spring is Finally Here!
Well, I hope. This winter up north brought a lot of white fluffy snow, offering a picturesque setting for winter enthusiasts. Anyone who loves snowshoeing, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling or other winter sports surely enjoyed a fantastic season. The recent ice storm that knocked out power for days wasn’t exactly the cherry on top, but now that the days are longer and the birds are back, it’s safe to say: spring has officially clocked in.
Today’s temperature will reach about 15 degrees, which should help the remaining snow melt away quickly.
Road conditions this spring have been a mixed bag. Boice Bradley has seen one of the worst seasons yet, with numerous deep potholes. On the other hand, Preachers has fared much better. Thankfully, there’s nothing major to report along our stretch of road, so far (kudos to the road crew). And hoping Boice Bradley can be graded soon (I’ll post a note once that happens).
Meanwhile, both Redstone Lake and Guilford Lake remain frozen, with no major signs of thawing just yet. However, with today’s weather and a promising forecast ahead, that should change very soon. Plus, lake levels are on the rise. For reference, last year’s ice out occurred around April 4, 2024, and our dock was in by April 8, 2024.
Below are a few pictures from Boice Bradley and Preachers Point roads, along with some lake pictures. I hope to have an update for you soon on a swimming start date.
See you up here!
UPDATE:
Ice out on Redstone Lake and Guilford Lake was about April 24, 2025.
